WEATHER STATION WEBSITE MARKS ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY

Hereford Weather Centre which was set up buy one man in his back garden, is celebrating Its first birthday this week

Markie Price started collecting weather data as a hobby nearly five year. ago, as he could find no local information on weather and no one collecting weather data.

He started getting Lots of requests for his information from people visiting the county.

So twelve months ago hi registered web address www.hereford-weather.co.uk to put the information online.

Since January 2005 the website has had over 15,000 hits and numerous requests from other weather stations across the UK to link to Hereford Weather Centre.

Web users can now not only view Hereford weather on the site but weather from around the UK.

The weather station is completely automated with sensors collecting information every 15 minutes on wind direct to itself, rainfall, temperature humidity, air pressure
and more.

The information is then sent to a computer where it is translated and uploaded to the website.

Markie said: "The information is 99per cent accurate and updated every 15 minute. or via your mobile phone at ww.hereford-weather.co.uk the site is very popular with hang gliders and any one taking to the sky, as well as fisherman and local businesses

Luke Coned from Jeans Station in Eign Gate Hereford said: "We find it a very valuable tool.

"The reports on the site also enable us to analyse our sales figures and get really accurate information on how the weather affects sales.

Enabling us to forecast purchases more accurately for future years."

Markie added: The most important thing about the site is that it is totally free; there are no hid den charges or requests for private information, passwords, bank details -you just get the information on the weather.

"This is a real difference to lots of other online sites and makes are refreshing change."
